What's the Difference Between "Open, assigned" and "Open, Unassigned?"

Q: I don't quite understand the difference between open assigned and open unassigned.

A: The distinction is for your convenience. Let’s say you claim 15 work orders in a small area, and you need to assign them to seven different team leaders. Marking them “Assigned” will change the color from orange to yellow, and let you keep track of which work orders have been assigned, and which haven’t. It’s also helpful to other organizations, like 2-1-1. Clients may call back and ask for a status update. If the work order is marked “assigned,” then work is probably imminent.

Short answer is—use it however is most convenient for you. It’s not mandatory.
